Racine – Mother Clarice J. Williams, 70, was called home on Monday, August 14, 2006. She was born in Evansville, Indiana on March 12, 1936, daughter of the late Jesse and Lucille (nee: Cooper) Pitt. On October 3, 1959 she was united in marriage to Charles Williams, Jr. in Racine.
Mother Williams was a member of United Church of God in Christ, where she devoted her time and talents as an evangelist, doing the work of the church, and helping to improve the lives of others. She was a loving mother, and adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed being with people, and loved to cook and entertain in her home. During her career she was employed by JI Case.
Clarice will be dearly missed by her husband, Charles; and children, Juliette “Gena” Norris of Evansville, Indiana, Terry “Niecy” Norris, and Belinda “Renee” Norris both of Racine, Carlos (Tawana) Williams of Kenosha, Ricky Williams, Rodney (Jeanette) Williams, Keith (Danielle) Williams, all of Racine, and Jason (Stefanie) Williams of El Paso, Texas; 29 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. She is further survived by her brothers and sisters, J.C. Pitt, Jr. of Dallas, Texas, Celestia (Sylvester) Clements, Glen (Nancy) Pitt of Detroit, Michigan, Alvin (Gloria) Pitt of Spotsylvania, Virginia, her twin Clarissa Williams of Racine, Oberia (Kenny) Adebiyi of Nashville, Tennessee, Ruby Marshall, Felicia (William) Simmons, Bonita Pitt, Michael (Susie) Pitt, Sharis Pitt all of Evansville, Verla Jones of Racine, Dwight (Dorothy) Pitt of Springfield, Illinois, and Sherman (Cindy) Pitt of Ft. Worth, Texas; sister-in-law Paulette Pitt of St. Louis, Missouri; and honorary sisters Hettie Doss and Sandra Mayfield of Racine, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded by her parents, sisters Velma Alexander, and Sadie (Nathaniel) Barker; brothers Sidney Pitt, George (Emma) Pitt, Norman Pitt, and sister-in-law Shirley Pitt.
Homegoing services will be held on Monday, August 21, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at Greater Grace Temple (522 N. Memorial Drive) with Pastor Lewis L. Doss Jr. officiating. Internment at West Lawn Memorial Park will follow. Visitation in the church will begin Monday at 9:00 a.m.
