
HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE, ARK. – Robert Louis ‘Bob’ Sheppard, Sr., 80, died Thursday, October 11, 2007, at his residence after a short but courageous battle with cancer. He was born July 27, 1927, in Racine, to the late Louis Sheppard, Sr. and Martha Simonsen Sheppard. He served in the Merchant Marines and married Margaret ‘Margie’ Hawes on November 26, 1949. He retired from In-Sink-Erator in Racine in 1987, and had been a Village resident since 1988. Bob was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, where he served as an usher. He was an avid golfer, and was a member of the Men’s Golf Association, the HSV Morning Lions and the VFW. He cherished spending time with his family, and was loved and admired by all who knew him. Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years, Margie Sheppard of Hot Springs Village, Ark.; six children, Lynn (Kirk) Engholt of Plymouth, Kathi (Jim) Hartman of Pine, Colo., Michael Sheppard of Racine, Patti Sheppard of Menomonee Falls, Bob Jr. (Sue) Sheppard of Racine, and Julie Sheppard of Racine; two brothers, Louis Jr. (Irene) Sheppard of Rochester, Minn. and Joe (Peggy) Sheppard of Lake Havasu City, Ariz; four sisters, Alice (Bill) Boy of Tempe, Ariz., Nancy Krezinski of Racine, Carol (Jim) LaMasters of Racine and Judy (Tony) Rossilli of Hot Springs Village, Ark.; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, James Hawes of Racine, and Dan Hawes of North Carolina, and John Umiker of Canada; and sisters-in-law, Marlene Hawes of Georgia and Edie Sheppard of Racine. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Marjorie Sheppard and Dorothy Aude; a brother, Jack Sheppard; brothers-in-law, Bob Krezinski, Buddy Hawes and Ron Jander; sisters-in-law, Eunice Hawes, Shirley Hawes, Fern Umiker and Pat Jander. A memorial service will be held at Caruth Village Funeral Home at 1 p.m., Monday, October 15, 2007, with Deacon Larry Lipsmeyer officiating. An additional memorial service will be held in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Saturday, October 27, 2007 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Bill Dietzler officiating. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Arkansas Hospice, 1307 Central Avenue, Hot Springs, Ark. 71901.
