
Kenosha – William R. Firchow, Jr., 89, passed away at Washington Manor on Sunday, October 21, 2007. He was born in Kenosha on August 9, 1918, son of the late William and Bertha (nee: Dumke) Firchow, Sr. He graduated from Kenosha high school in 1936, and on November 30, 1939 he was married to the former Dorthea Mae Sinclair. Mr. Firchow enjoyed a successful career at Kenosha Auto Transport He was the head of the accounting department when he retired 1980. He was a family man in the truest sense of the word. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and sons, and getting involved in their pursuits. He was a long time supporter and chaperone with the Kenosha Band Boosters. He also liked gardening, HAM radio, tinkering and rebuilding motorcycles. Together with his wife Dorthea, he loved to square-dance, play cards, and see the production shows at the Chicago Melody Top, and the Fireside Theatre. He is survived by his wife of nearly 70 years, Dorthea; their sons and daughters-in-law, James and Myla Firchow of Kenosha, Tom and Joyce Firchow of Racine; grandchildren, Joel (Anja) Firchow of Rosemount, Minnesota, Kevin (Sarah) Firchow of Madison, and Steven Firchow of Eden Prairie, Minnesota; 2 great grandchildren, Aidan and Ayla Firchow; and sister, J. Eleanor McFadden of Denver, Colorado. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, October 29, 2007 with Rev. Linda Farmer-Lewis presiding. Visitation will begin at 4:30 p.m. Committal services at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 30th, 2007. Memorials to The National Family Caregiver Support Program have been suggested.
