
Juan S. Oviedo, 52, was killed in a construction accident in the Town of Somers on Wednesday, December 19, 2007. He was a born in Mexico on June 12, 1955 the son of Eusebio and Gregoria (nee: Martinez) Oviedo. Juan had been employed by Cape Construction Co. for 13 years and for the past 4 years had been employed by A.W. Oakes and Son Construction. Juan was a member of Cristo Rey Parish and the Laborers International Union of North America Local 113. Surviving are his sons, John and Mario Oviedo and Ismael and Sergio Bermudez; their mother, and Juan’s longtime companion, Maria Bermudez; granddaughter, Adriana Bermudez; his father, Eusebio Oviedo; brothers and sisters, Esperanza (Perfecto) Oviedo, Modesto (Maria) Oviedo, Maria Oviedo, Reymundo Oviedo, Gerardo (Pimenia) Oviedo, Mauricia (Felix) Oviedo. Enrique (Yolanda) Oviedo, and Sergio (Isabel) Oviedo; aunts Augustina Martinez, Eugenia Oviedo and uncle Alfonso Oviedo. His nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother Gregoria Oviedo; his grandfather Merced Oviedo; grandmothers, Aciana Martinez and Fortina Arriaga. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. in Cristo Rey Parish, 8th and College Ave., with Rev. Ricardo Martin officiating. A visitation will be in the funeral home on Wednesday, December 26, 2007 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and in the church on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
