Jan 11, 1923 – Jan 5, 2008

Somers- Ernest John Predny, 84, passed away at Brookside Care Center on Saturday, January 5, 2008. Ernie was born in Chicago, IL on January 11, 1923 to the late Michael and Theresa (nee: Sisulak) Predny. Following graduation from high school, he proudly served our Country with the United States Army in WWII. On May 30, 1945 in Holy Trinity Catholic Church, he was united in marriage with the love of his life, Ardyth L. Wood. During his career, Ernie was employed by JI Case, Massey-Ferguson, American Motors and operated a service station in Downtown Racine. Among his interests, he was an avid outdoorsman. Ernie enjoyed hunting and fishing especially in Neillsville. He was an honorary life member of the Racine Reel and Rifle Club. Above all, he loved and cherished being in the surroundings of his entire family. Surviving are his loving wife of nearly 63 years, Ardyth of Somers; their children, Tim (Linda) Predny of Kenosha, Tony Predny of Racine, Kathy (Ken) Stenzel of Racine, and Scott (Lisa) Predny of Kenosha; grandchildren, Kathleen (Dan) DeSeife of Kenosha, Jeri (Bill Kamm) Predny of Wilmot, Katie (Jeff) Oatsvall of Racine, and Jon (Denise) Predny of Kenosha; great-grandchildren, Jessica, Emily, John and Randy DeSeife; Nathan and Natalie Oatsvall; and Anthony Predny; sister, Alice Petersen of Racine; brother-in-law, Kenneth (Diane) Wood of Kenosha; sisters-in-law, Eunice Huber and Betty Wood, both of Kenosha and Maria Predny of Racine; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends too numerous to mention by name. In addition to his parents, Ernie was preceded in death by his brothers, Michael (Anne) and Arthur “Dick” Predny; and brothers-in-law, Herman (Rose), Lester (Ruth) and Galerd Wood; and Frank Huber. A memorial service celebrating Ernie’s life will be held in the funeral home, 4600 County Line Rd., on Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at 5:00 pm. A reception will follow at the Fireside Restaurant in Kenosha. There will be time to visit with the family at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4-5 pm. In accordance with Ernie’s wishes, cremation has taken place and private interment will be held at a later date. A heartfelt note of thanks to the entire staff of Brookside Care Center for the compassionate care and support that was so warmly extended during this past year; and to Hospice Advantage, especially to Tammi Harmann RN, for the understanding and guidance in our time of need. Your kindness and generosity will always be remembered!
