
RACINE – Jacquiline J. Hood, 76, passed away on Wednesday, March 12, 2008, surrounded by family after a brief illness. Jackie was a lifelong resident of Racine, the daughter of Herbert and Laverne Fechner. Jackie graduated from Washington Park High School in 1949. She received a MA in Education and taught for Racine Unified for 22 years. Jackie dedicated her life to family, friends, community service, the arts, and God. She was an active member of the St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, St. Monica Guild, and Altar Guild. She was past President of PEO Chapter CF, a member of Junior League, volunteer at the food pantry, and participated in numerous bridge, tennis, and golf leagues. Jackie enjoyed traveling with friends, painting, making baskets, decorating gourds, and quilting. She is survived by her husband of 55 years Edward ‘Ted’ Hood; daughters, Katie Hood, Marion Rauch, and Helen ‘Nellie’ Ludwig; sons-in-law, Craig Rauch and Tom Ludwig; and grandchildren, Abby Hood and Meg and Coy Ludwig. Funeral services will be held at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 614 Main Street, Racine, on Saturday, March 15, 2008, at 3 p.m. with Rev. Martha Berger officiating. There will be a visitation at the church on Saturday before the service starting at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Tex Reynolds Toys for Tots, 800 Center Street, Racine, Wis. 53403; or St. Monica Guild, c/o St. Luke’s Church, 614 Main Street, Racine, Wis. 53403. Jacquiline will be missed by her family and friends.
