Richard Andrew Dell

Racine- Richard Andrew “Dick” Dell, 90, passed away peacefully at Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints Medical Center on Monday, September 20, 2010.  

Richard was born in Toledo, OH on February 15, 1920 to the late Andrew and Mary (nee: Banko) Dlhopolcek. Following graduation from high school, Dick went on to faithfully serve our Country with the United States Coast Guard in the South Pacific during WWII.  

On June 12, 1943 in the parsonage of St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church, he was united in marriage with the love of his life, Irene May Clark. During his career, Dick was employed by the Volkswagen dealerships of Hendricks Motors and Merten Motors, retiring as the office manager in 1982.  

Richard was a proud member of Atonement Lutheran Church for over 65 years, where he had served as an usher. Among his interests, he enjoyed fishing and camping with Irene.

Surviving are his loving wife of over 67 years, Irene Dell; brothers-in-law, John (Sandy) Clark, Harold (Marilyn) Clark and Robert Clark; sister-in-law, Marietta Clark; many special nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends too numerous to mention by name.

In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his sister, Helen (Howard) Weber; Irene’s parents, Thomas and Mabel (nee: Dupuis) Clark; and brothers-in-law, Donald and James Clark.

Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Saturday, September 25, 2010 at 10:00 am with Rev. Dr. Warren D. Williams officiating. Interment, with military honors, will follow in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Saturday from 9-10 am. In memory of Dick, memorials to Atonement Lutheran Church have been suggested.
