
Racine- Floyd Stanley Frank, 88, passed away at Willowcrest Care Center in South Milwaukee on Saturday, August 20, 2011.
Floyd was born in Racine on September 23, 1922 to the late George and Ida (nee: Maass) Frank. Following high school, Floyd went on to faithfully serve our Country with the United States Army during WWII in Europe and the Pacific from 1943-1946 serving in the Searchlight and Radar Battalion and the 1306 Engineers.
On September 27, 1947 at Grace Lutheran Church, Floyd was united in marriage with the love of his life, Shirley (nee: Hammes) Frank, who preceded him in death on July 28, 2007.
Floyd was employed at Western Publishing, retiring in 1986. He also owned Precision Welding for many years. He was a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church, the American Legion #494 and the VFW #10388. With a great appreciation for the outdoors, Floyd enjoyed family vacations at a cottage in Sayner every year. He was also an avid golfer, bowler and hunter. Above all, Floyd loved being in the surroundings of his entire family.
Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Vona (Brian) Thomforde of Sioux Falls, S.D.; daughter-in-law, Rose Frank of Racine; grandchildren, Jason (Christina) Frank of Racine and Ethan Thomforde of Everett, WA; sister, Pearl Gergen of Racine; other special relatives and friends.
Floyd was also preceded in death by his beloved son, Greg Frank; and brother-in-law, Dennis Gergen.
Funeral services will be held at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at 11:30 am with Rev. Thomas E. Chryst officiating. Interment, with military honors, will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10:00-11:30 am. In memory of Floyd, memorials to Grace Lutheran Church in Racine or the American Legion Post #494 in Franksville have been suggested.
