Elkhorn – Terrence John McCarthy, 84, received the promise of eternal life on Tuesday, January 20, 2015, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born in Racine on November 21, 1930, son of the late John and Rita (nee: Hecker) McCarthy.
Terry was united in marriage to the former Lila Jean Babbel on April 6, 1968, in Racine.
Terry graduated from St. Catherine’s High School in 1949. He proudly and faithfully served his country in the United States Air Force from 1956 until 1960. Terry was a testing technician for J.I. Case until his retirement.
Terry was a proud veteran and was involved in a military road show. He wrote a book entitled Airmen’s Holiday. Terry also expressed his artistic side and produced several paintings in his earlier years. He also was an avid Packers fan and could be found rooting on his favorite team on Sunday afternoons. Above all, Terry treasured his family and cherished the time he was able to spend with all of them. He will be dearly missed.
Terry leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Lila McCarthy of Elkhorn; loving children, John (Michelle) McCarthy, Michael (Henrik) McCarthy, Lori (Eric) Krezinski, Denise (Joseph) Reesman, Jody (Ara) Molitor, and Theresa (Jeremy) McCarthy. Family and friends will then join in procession from the funeral home to St. Lucy Catholic Church, 3101 Drexel Ave. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the church at 1:00pm with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating. Private burial will take place at Southern Wisconsin Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery on a later date.
