Racine – Brian D. Krug; age 60; passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday afternoon, April 21, 2015 following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Racine on September 2, 1954, he was a graduate of Washington Park High School “Class of 1973”. Brian went on to proudly serve our country with the United States Army. He began his working career at Webster Electric before going on to All Saints Medical Center as an environmental engineer. Lastly, Brian was employed as a security officer by Allied Barton Security at the JMBA Center.
After returning from a Promise Keepers conference that he was invited to by his brother, Brian completely changed his lifestyle and faithfully joined Grace Church in 1996. After being saved by his Lord Jesus, Brian met the love of his life, Becky Sue (nee: Maurer). They were married on November 15, 2003 in Grace Church.
Brian was active with Big Brothers / Big Sisters for many years. Among his interests, he enjoyed reading; all genres of music – especially Gaither Gospel; old war movies; and was a word search & music trivia wiz. Above all, Brian’s Christian faith was the center of his world for the past 20 years. He loved and cherished being in the surroundings of his entire family and extensive circle of friends.
Surviving are his loving wife, Becky; mother & step-father, Josephine “Joann” and Chuck Kesser; brother, Jeff (Marline) Krug; nephews, Tim (Deborah) Krug and Steve (Whitney) Krug; great-nieces & nephews, Rachel, Brynn, Daniel, Sawyer, Hannah, Kaitlynn and Issac; step-children, Ryan (Maruska) Burrow, Susan (Jason) Jorgensen and Eric (Shawna Meier) Burrow; step-grandchildren, Chloe, Max, Ryker and Madlyn; mother-in-law & father-in-law, Lois and John Anderson; brothers-in-law, Thomas (Lee) Maurer & family (Ric (Megan) Maurer and Alyssa (Nef) Rubio); Kurt Maurer & family (Cassy, Kyle, CJ and Kayla); Rod (Nicola) Maurer & family (RJ, Daniel and Reece); John Jr. (Bonnie) Anderson & family; Scott (Carmie) Anderson; Sandy Larsen & family; Chris (Christine) Anderson; and Scott Chase; other dear relatives and friends – too numerous to mention all by name.
Brian was preceded in death by his father, Lyle John Krug; father-in-law, Richard Maurer; and sister-in-law, Lisa Maurer.
Funeral services will be held at Grace Church (3626 Highway 31) on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at 11:00 am. Military honors and a luncheon will follow. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Monday (April 27) from 4:00 – 8:00 pm and in the church on Tuesday from 10-11 am. Private interment will take place in the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery. In memory of Brian, memorials to the “Stars & Stripes Honor Flight” or to “Samaritan’s Purse” have been suggested.
A special note of thanks to Dr. Michael Mullane & his entire staff and to everyone at Allay Hospice for the incredible care and support; and to all our relatives & friends for the many acts of kindness expressed during Brian’s journey with cancer. May God bless all of you!
