Racine – Vincent P. Doyle, age 74, passed away peacefully, surrounded with the love of his family, on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at Becker-Shoop Center.
Vince was born in Chicago, IL on April 10, 1941 to the late Vincent and Frances (nee: Ward) Doyle. A graduate of Chicago Vocational High School, he went on to proudly serve our country as a corpsman with the United States Navy from 1961 to 1964 at the Great Lakes Naval Base (which he fondly referred to as the SS Never Sail).
On September 5, 1964 in Holy Name Catholic Church, Vince was united in marriage with the love of his life, Joan Elaine (nee: Meyer). After leaving the service, he was employed at Twin Disc for 9 years. Then he was employed as a sales rep for Sun Chemical for over 22 years, retiring in 2003. After his retirement, he served as a driver for SC Johnson until November of 2014.
Vince was a faithful member of St. Lucy Catholic Church where he served as an usher and Past-Chairman of the annual St. Lucy Festival. As an automobile enthusiast, he was a member of Wisconsin Region Mopar Club (Past-President), Plymouth Owners Club, Walter P. Chrysler Club and the Plymouth 4&6 Cylinder Owners Club. He was also a member of the Ives Grove Senior Golf League. Vince was a Chicago Bears fan; enjoyed traveling, deer hunting and summertime festivals; and was extremely proud of his Irish heritage. Above all, Vince was happiest when in the surroundings of his entire family.
Surviving are his loving wife of over 51 years, Joan; daughter, Anne (Matt) Sadowski; son, Joseph (Lori) Doyle; grandchildren, Matthew & Jonathon Sadowski and Rossi & Riese Doyle; sisters, Madonna (George) Willett and Maureen (Rich) Law; brothers, Terril (Debbie) Doyle, Thomas (Carrie) Doyle and Roger (Rosa) Doyle; sisters-in-law, Dolores Woods and Elizabeth (Bob) DeWitt; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends – too numerous to mention all by name.
In addition to his parents, Vince was preceded in death by his brother, Greg Doyle; Joan’s parents, Joseph and Emma (nee: Bonini) Meyer; brothers-in-law, Roy Woods and Joseph Meyer; and sister-in-law, Vivian Meyer.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at 12:00 noon in St. Lucy Catholic Church, 3101 Drexel Avenue, with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating. Military honors and a reception will follow. Visitation will be in the church on Tuesday from 10:00 am – 12:00 noon. In accordance with Vince’s wishes, cremation will take place after the funeral. Memorials to St. Lucy Catholic Church or to St. Catherine’s High School have been suggested.
A heartfelt note of thanks to Becker-Shoop Center for the compassionate care and support given in Vince’s time of need – especially: Amy, Trista, Sally, Allie, LaWanda, Gloria and Samantha. Also, we would like to give special recognition to Aunt Dolores Woods & Aunt Liz and Uncle Bob DeWitt for the many acts of kindness given to Dad and Mom over the past several months. Your kindness will always be remembered!
Shari and Jim Adolph says
I was disheartened to hear of Vince’s passing. I worked with him at Kohl & Madden for quite a few years before he retired. He was always a pleasure to see when he would come through the door at the office and especially when he would give myself and Christine a shoulder rub. He was such a gentleman, but so much fun as well. I am sure he will be missed by many people who’s lives he touched while he was with us. God’s Blessings to the Doyle family. Shari and Jim Adolph
