Racine – Raymond Edwin Woitach, 89, received the promise of eternal life on July 10, 2016. He was born in Racine, WI, on October 8, 1926, son of the late Stanley and Anna (nee: Budny) Woitach.
Ray was united in marriage to his wife, Mary Louise, on September 4, 1948, at St. Rose church in Racine. Mary preceded him in death on March 10, 1985.
Ray and his family were together involved in the grocery store business. Ray managed Jay Eye See Grocery and also worked for his family at the North Main Superette. He finally retired from Kenosha Beef after many years. He developed many trusted clients and friends over his long career as a salesman.
Ray loved the great outdoors, especially fishing and deer hunting. He liked spending as much time as he could at his house on Pine Lake in Rhinelander. Ray also loved his yearly fishing trips to Canada with his fishing buddies. Ray also loved taking trips in his RV to various destinations. Ray enjoyed being an amateur car salesman, buying and selling over sixty cars over the years. He also was a sports fan and liked watching baseball and football. Ray had a love for his dogs: Chico, Teddy, and Trina.
Ray leaves many nieces, nephews, and friends to cherish his memory. In addition to his parents and wife, Ray is preceded in death by his special friend, Genevieve “Genny” Welsh; brothers, John (Laura) Wortock, Joe (Sophie) Woitach, Chet (Betty/June) Woitock, Edward (Alice) Woitach; sister, Sally (Frank) Kabara; and brother-in-law, Charles Kottal (Sally’s late first husband).
A celebration of Ray’s life will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2016, 11:00am, at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home and Crematory, 4600 County Line Road, with Rev. Ronald Gramza officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30am until the time of the service. Interment with full military honors will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Caledonia. In lieu of flowers, the family has directed memorials to the Wisconsin Humane Society.
The family would like to say “Thank You” to the staffs at Racine Commons, Azura Memory Care in Kenosha, and Seasons Hospice for the love and care given to Ray over the years and during this difficult time.
