
Racine – Charlene Ann Lukomski, 72, passed away at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints hospital on Monday, December 29, 2008 with her family at her side. Charlene was born in Racine on May 21, 1936 to the late Frank and Verna (nee: Haen) Geyer. She was a life-long Racine resident. On September 22, 1969 she was united in marriage to Melvin C. Lukomski. As a young woman, Charlene worked as a medical receptionist for several local doctors’ offices, and as a telephone operator at Bell Telephone Company. After she married she proudly took on the role of wife, mother, and homemaker. She will always be remembered for her love of animals, and her financial support of many animal welfare causes. Charlene was a member of St. Lucy’s Catholic Church. She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Melvin C. Lukomski; her daughter and son-in-law, Kari and Scott Stapleman; two grandsons, Michael and David Stapleman; and her brother, Dick Geyer. She will be dearly missed by her family, other relatives, and friends. Funeral services for Charlene will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, January 5, 2009 at St. Lucy’s Catholic Church with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation will begin in the church at 9:30 a.m.
