
Sam Jones, 73, was called Home by his Lord and Savior on Monday, March 23, 2009. He was born in Columbus, MS on March 24, 1935 the son of the late James T. and Annie Lou Jones. Sam had been a longtime employee of Itt Bell and Gossett. He was a member of UAW Local 890. Surviving are his wife Mary Ann (nee: Bunch); his children, Eddie James Jones, Arthur Hamilton, Brenda Bankhead, Irene Jones, Ray Charles Jones, Ernest Jones, Chris Jones, Loveree Jones, Samantha Jones, Maurice Clay, Lucinna Clay, Shaqueena Clay, Andre Cooper, and Leroy Clay; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Herbert (Shirley Jones), Levy C. (Helen) Jones, James T. (Magnolia) Jones, Jean Ella Purnell, Samella (R.B.) Bankhead, Clara Haywood, Charlie (Rita) Jones and Jimmy Jones; and sister-in-law, Ora D. Bailey. His nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends further survive him. In addition to his parents his brother Ossie Bailey preceded him in death. His Homegoing Service will be held in Searching Together Church, 825 21st St., on Friday, March 27th, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Willie Riley officiating. Visitation will be in the church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Service. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery.

We know that this is a difficult time but we also ask that you remember that God is able to help you with every moment in your adjusting to life without Sam. Daddy Sam is no longer in pain, he is at peace.
