
Racine- Charles John Bendix II, 36, affectionately known all of his life as “C.J.”, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, May 3, 2009 of sudden cardiac arrest. C.J. was born in Racine on August 8, 1972 to Charles John and Diana Rose (nee: Desotell) Bendix, Sr. He received his education from Goodland Elementary, Starbuck Middle and Washington Park High School. An extreme automobile enthusiast, C.J. was a meticulous car detailer who proudly owned and operated “Buff n Shine”, a local detail service, for many years. For the past three years, he was also employed as a furnace operator at Midwest Thermo Vac. A fishing fanatic to say the least, C.J. was an award winning fisherman who was the 2002 Grand Prize overall winner of Salmon-A-Rama, for his 32.68 lb Chinook and a member of Salmon Unlimited. Among his other interests, C.J. enjoyed deer hunting, shooting pool and watching the Green Bay Packers. Above all, he had an infectious smile and loving personality that brightened the lives of his entire family and circle of friends. Surviving are his parents, Charles and Diana Bendix, Sr.; brother, Steven Bendix; sisters, Michele and Mary Bendix; beloved 6-year-old niece, Kaitlyn Bendix; girlfriend, Jacqueline Phillips (and her son, Aaron); aunts and uncles, David (Mary) Desotell, Donna (Jim) DeMark, Dorothy (Lonnie) Albro, Denise (Anthony) Rossi, Daniel (Kim) Desotell, Frances Cogburn and MaryAnn Bendix; many cousins, other relatives and treasured friends too numerous to mention by name. C.J. was preceded in death by his infant brother, Joseph Bendix; grandparents, Ralph and Rosalie Desotell; Eugene and Mary Bendix, Sr.; and uncle, Eugene Bendix II. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 8, 2009 at 11 am in St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 6400 Spring St., with Rev. William J. Dietzler officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32. Visitation will be held in the funeral home on Thursday from 5-8 pm and in the church on Friday from 10-11 am.
