
Racine – Robert James “Bobby” Baker, 50, passed away at United Hospital – Kenosha Medical Center on Tuesday, July 26, 2011.
He was born in Racine on June 29, 1961, son of the late Thomas Edward Baker, Sr. and Anne Viola (nee: Slaasted) Baker.
Bobby was a lifelong resident of Racine. He attended Case High School. Bobby was a fork lift operator for JRS Distributing. He was a passionate gardener and tended to gardens for his entire family. Bobby loved thunderstorms, bonfires, fireworks, and the Fourth of July season. He loved to walk down by Lake Michigan to watch the waves, boats, and swim. Bobby loved to fish, especially smelt fishing. Many nights were spent with family cleaning a fresh catch of smelt and having a good time. Bobby loved being with his family and they will all miss him dearly.
Bobby is survived by his mother, Anne Baker of Racine; sisters, Sandra Callis of Racine, Gail (Richard Hovorka) Baker of Gleason; brother, Glenn Purlee of Racine; girlfriend, Lynn Weiss of Racine; nieces and nephews, Ashton Baker, Melissa Baker, Cody Baker, Gary (Andrea) Granger, Jr., Germaine (Brian) Eisel, Gwen Granger, Geralyn Granger, Garrick Granger, Erick (Ashley) Callis, Matthew (Ashley) Callis, Jacob (Amanda) Callis; and other relatives too numerous to mention.
In addition to his father, Bobby is preceded in death by his brother, Thomas E. Baker, Jr.
A memorial service is being planned by his family at First United Methodist Church, 745 Main Street, Racine, on Saturday, August 6, 2011, at 2:00 pm with Reverend Brad Van Fossen officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00pm until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been suggested to the family.
