
Racine- Magdalena “Madge” (nee: Lema, Huck) McCarthy, 91, passed away at Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints Medical Center on Thursday, October 13, 2011.
Magdalena was born in East Moline, IL on September 12, 1920 to the late Adolf and Mary Louise (nee: Loontjens) Lema. On April 22, 1944 she was united in marriage with Richard M. Huck, who preceded her in death on June 20, 1978. Years later, on September 9, 2000, she was united in marriage with James G. McCarthy.
A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Madge was a tireless and accomplished homemaker. She was a member of St. Mary by the Lake Catholic Church. Among her interests, she enjoyed bowling, golfing, square dancing and playing cards. Above all, she loved and cherished spending time with her entire family, all of whom she was so proud.
Surviving are her husband, James G. McCarthy; children, Larry (Ellen) Huck, Tim (Karen) Huck, Kathy (Jim) Pease, Dan Huck and Jeanine Bozich; sister (of whom Madge loved like a daughter), Darlene (Rich) Larsen; Jim’s children, Joanne Long, Kathleen Morrison, Maureen (Bill) O’Hare, Mary (Scott Barron) McCarthy and Eileen (Gerald) Russell; 14 grandchildren, Paul (Kelly) Huck, Kate (Todd) Marschke, Sarah (Allon) Azulai, Evan (Pam) Huck, Jonathan (Stacy) Pease, Emily Pease, Abbey Pease, Sara Huck, Leigh Huck, Donny Bozich, Jamie Bozich, Kim (Jeff) Saunders, Rich (Tanya) Larsen and Chad (Jenny) Larsen; 8 great-grandchildren, Lauren and Davis Marschke; Ryan and Kyle Saunders; Riley, Liam and Owen Larsen; and Nolan Larsen; brother, Remi (Kathy) Lema; sister-in-law, Jane Lema; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends too numerous to mention by name.
In addition to her parents and first husband, Madge was preceded in death by her son, Kevin Huck; daughter-in-law, Melissa Huck; brothers, Julius (MaryAnn) Lema, Leo (Alice) Lema and Edward Lema; and by Jim’s son-in-law, James Long.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at 11:00 am in St. Mary by the Lake Catholic Church (7605 Lakeshore Drive in Caledonia) with Rev. Stephen J. Stradinger officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32. Visitation will be in the church on Tuesday from 9-11 am.
