
Thomas James Person, 76, was born in Atlanta, GA on August 16, 1935, the son of the now late Mary Reese and Thomas Person, Sr. He was educated at South Fulton High School in East Point, GA.
Thomas retired from JI Case in Racine, WI in 1992 after 40 years of faithful service. He was currently employed at Sam’s Club in Somers, WI. Thomas accepted Christ at an early age at Mount Calvary Baptist Church in College Park, GA. He is dearly loved by the many that knew him. He will be remembered for his love and passion for the game of golf. He also enjoyed bowling and spending quality time with his family.
Thomas was called home on December 5, 2011. Those he leaves to mourn his death and cherish his memories include his children, Pam (Shelton) Harris of Atlanta, GA, Jeffrey “Wade” (Brenda) Person of Racine, Kimberly (Isidore) Brooks of Racine, Anthony Person of Las Vegas, Tyrone (Sharon) Buckley and Anthony Fisher both of Racine; 11 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; sisters and brothers, Lillie Cameron of Racine, Sandra “Ann” Kinsey (Jerome) Clark of Atlanta, GA, James (Verdelle) Person of Racine, Gerald Reese of Atlanta, Gerard (Cynthia) Reese of East Point, GA; estranged wife, Emma Ruth Person; 3 stepchildren; a special step grandson, Austin; his former wife and lifelong friend, Elsie Person; his best friend, James (Jimmie Dale) Oliver both of Racine; as well as many dear nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. In addition to his parents, Thomas was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Alice Person; step-father, Samuel Reese, Sr.; an infant son, Stan; his brother, Samuel Reese and special nephews, Bruce Cameron and Dwight Person.
Family and friends are invited to meet for a visitation in the funeral home on Sunday from 3-5 p.m. The celebration of his life and Homegoing will be held in Wayman A.M.E. Church (424 North Memorial Dr.) on Monday, December 12, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Ernest J. Garrison officiating. There will also be a visitation at church on Monday from 10-11 a.m. There will be a procession to Graceland Cemetery following the service at the church.
