
Racine – John “Pelos” Torres Sr., 66, passed away unexpectedly at home on Monday, January 2, 2012. John was born in Uvalde, Texas on June 8, 1945, son of the late Jose and Refugia (nee: Baca) Torres.
John moved to Racine/Kenosha area as a young man, but remained the biggest Dallas Cowboys fan ever. He was very dedicated to his family, and was happiest when they were all together. He enjoyed making others happy; was always ready with a joke, and loved playing pranks on his family. John worked at WI & Racine Plating for many years, and retired from Lakeside Malleable Iron .
John is survived by his children, Christina (Derrick Shaw) Torres of Racine, Rosa (Manuel) Carrera of Dekalb, IL, Fred (Sherry) Torres of Sycamore, IL, and John (Linda) Torres Jr. in Texas; grandchildren, Roberto (Melissa) Torres, Manuel Jr. and Anna Carrera of Dekalb; Samantha Torres and Grace Torres of Sycamore; Trinidad Rodriquez-Torres of Kenosha; Antonia and Gabriela Torres, Amelia and Talia Nard of Racine; siblings, Beatrice Torres, Sara (Lupe) De La Rosa, Oralia (Juan) Coronado, Yolanda (David Sr.) Garcia all of Kenosha, Belia (Henry) Hernandez of Racine; brother-in-law, Samuel Charo Sr. of Kenosha; godchildren, Ricky Sabala of Dallas, Texas, Serafina Terrazas, Bianca Rios and Alexandra “Chispy” Perez of Kenosha. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Torres; sisters and brother-in-law, Justa (Jesus) Sauceda, and Lucia Charo; and brothers, Gudalupe Torres Sr., Simon Torres, Marcos Torres, and Jose “Pepe” Torres Jr.
Visitation begins at 5:00 pm on Friday, January, 6, 2012 and continues through Saturday morning, January 7, 2012, until time of service. Funeral services will be held at 6:00 pm on Friday, and at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both services will be held at the Racine Family Worship Center (1846 Mead Street) with Rev. Lupe Torres officiating. Burial will take place at St. George Cemetery in Kenosha following Saturday’s service.
