Richard A. Nelson, 79, passed away in United Hospital System-Kenosha Campus on Thursday, March 22, 2012. Dick was born in Kenosha on July 10, 1932 the son of the late William E. and Ragnhild (nee: Engstrom) Nelson.
On August 15, 1953, in St. Paul Lutheran Church, Kenosha, he was united in marriage to the former Patricia Garin. Dick had been employed by the Simmons Co. for 10 years, and later by A.M.C./Chrysler for nearly 30 years, until retiring in December of 1989. Dick was a Life Member of Masonic Lodge #47 F.M.A., and avid hunter and fisherman, as well as an accomplished clarinetist. He will always be remembered for his quiet demeanor and warm and friendly smile.
Surviving are his wife Patricia; their son, Stuart (Jolene) Nelson; grandson, Zachary Nelson, all of Racine; brother, William (Marilyn) Nelson, of Kenosha; sister, Kathleen (Robert) Knutson, of West Bend; sister-in-law, Margarette (Bruce) Haubrich, of Kenosha. Dick is also survived by his nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Walter and sister-in-law Paulette Garin.
His funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday, March 27th, at 7:00 p.m. with
Rev. John Fleming officiating. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Sunset Ridge Memorial Park, at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers the family has suggested memorials to your favorite charity.
