Racine- Gladys Grace (nee: Patrick) Foldy, age 100, passed away peacefully at home and was born into Eternal Life on Sunday, March 3, 2013.
A lifetime resident, Gladys was born in Racine on October 10, 1912 to the late Joseph J. and Marie (nee: Christensen) Patrick. She was a 1930 graduate of Washington Park High School.
On September 4, 1937 in Atonement Lutheran Church, she was united in marriage with the love of her life, Edward William Foldy, who preceded her in death on November 30, 2011.
With a strong work ethic, Gladys retired as Vice-President of Knight-Barry Abstract Company in 1981 after 50 years of service. She was a lifetime member of Atonement Lutheran Church where she was active with Communion Committee and Sarah Circle; former President of the Opti-Mrs.Club; former President of the Altrusa Club; member of BPW (Business and Professional Women)organization; dedicated Boy Scout and Brownie leader; and the Gilbert Knapp PTA where she served as health chairman during the 1950’s Polio vaccination campaign. Among her interests, Gladys enjoyed swimming, golfing, baking and reading.
Surviving are her children, Judith Ann (Joe) Cranley, James Edward (Kathleen) Foldy and Joanne Marie (Rev. Warren) Williams; former daughter-in-law, Margaret Robinson, all of Racine; grandchildren, Sean (Jackie) Cranley, Jennifer (Craig) Kiesler, Rika (Michael) Phipps, Jerry (Sue) Foldy, Kristen (Kevin) Cantrell; Megi Morishita, M.D.; and Mike (Tammy) Foldy; 10 great-grandchildren; devoted nephew, Ken (Jan) Mowry, other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, Gladys was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Jeanne in 1943; infant granddaughter, Rana Cranley; infant great-grandson, Charles Saliscente; sisters, Mary Jane (Ken) Mowry and Naomi (Charles) Kish; brothers, Wallace (Emma) and Glenn (Jean) Patrick; and brothers-in-law, Arthur (Agnes) and Henry (Augie) Foldy.
Funeral services celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at 11:00 am in Atonement Lutheran Church, 2915 Wright Avenue, with Gladys’ son-in-law, Rev. Dr. Warren D. Williams officiating. Visitation will be in the church in the morning from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Private interment will take place in West Lawn Memorial Park. In memory of Gladys, memorials to Atonement Lutheran Church have been suggested.
