
Racine- Emily Mary (nee: Janiak) Arndt, age 83, passed away at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare– All Saints Medical Center, surrounded with the love of her family, on Tuesday evening, March 12, 2013.
A lifetime resident, Emily was born in Racine on December 17, 1929 to the late Joseph and Constance (nee: Kawecka) Janiak. On June 5, 1948 in St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, she was united in marriage with the love of her life, Henry Charles Arndt, who preceded her in death on October 29, 2007.
Emily was employed by In-Sink-Erator for 26 years, retiring on January 15, 1993. Emily was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. Emily was also a member of the ISE 10-Year Club and the Red Hat Society. Among her interests, she enjoyed volunteering with Marilyn from (ADRC), knitting, sewing, playing the card game “Four Kings in a Corner” and, above all, spending time with her entire family – especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, of whom kept her smiling and laughing.
Surviving are her children, Pamela (Jack) Westmont, William (Diedra Nielsen) Arndt and Robert (Maureen) Arndt; grandchildren, John (Polly) Westmont, Scott (Jodie) Westmont, Amy (Andy) Rice, Ryan (Sarah) Arndt, Melissa (Steve Pollock) Arndt-Pollock and Cassie (Ryan) Hilt; great-grandchildren, Ben and Petra Westmont, Sara Westmont, Samantha and Emily Rice, Tyler Arndt, Liam and Aaliyah Pollock, Nolan and Caydence Hilt; brothers, Leo and Lawrence Janiak; sister, Adele Spieker; brother-in-law, Charles Arndt; sisters-in-law, Marion Witkofski and Beverly Arndt; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, Emily was preceded in death by her brothers, Edward, Chester (Olga), Frank (Stephanie) and Matthew (Betty) Janiak; sisters, Eva (Clarence) Garbarek and Irene (Henry) Ruk; Henry’s parents, Henry and Margaret (nee: Holler) Arndt; brothers-in-law, James Arndt, Kenneth Witkofski, Bill Arndt, Richard Arndt and Eugene Spieker; and sisters-in-law, Louise (Al) Kristan, Margaret Arndt and Rosemary Janiak.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at 11:00 am in St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 6400 Spring Street, with Rev. Richard J. Molter officiating. A reception will follow. Visitation will be in the church on Saturday from 9-11 am. Private entombment will take place. In memory of Emily, memorials to the American Cancer Society or to the Jane Cremer Foundation have been suggested.

My dear friend, Emily. We talked at least once a year since I left Wisconsin and always had a great talk and laugh! I will miss that and strangely enough have been thinking of her lately! I worked with her at ISE and she was a good friend! Love u Emily !
