~~Anita Patrice Robinson, 59, received the promise of eternal life on Thursday, December 25, 2014. She was born in Racine on January 15, 1955, daughter of the late Thomas and Verneda (nee: Westmoreland) Robinson, Sr.
Anita attended Washington Park High School and graduated in 1973. She then attended the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. In 1982, Anita relocated to San Antonio, TX. Anita was employed as a civilian contractor for the Lackland Air Force Base, Kelly Air Force Base, and Fort Sam Houston. Anita was frequently recognized for her stellar performance by the United States Air Force. She loved her job and the people that worked with her. Anita was nearing retirement.
Anita’s other passion was her love of music. Anita had the voice of an angel. She sang with many different bands growing up in Racine. She also had a love for singing in the church choir at Westover Hills Assembly of God. She also loved jazz and served as the lead vocalist for the ensemble, Wardis Live. Anita was often sought out to perform for the United States Armed Forces special events including “The Star Spangled Banner”, our national anthem. Anita became the star entertainer of the ship when she sang on stage and was offered a job singing on the cruise line. Anita declined, however, because she felt her voice was better served singing for the Lord in the church choir. She enjoyed singing gospel and even recorded a CD. In 1999, Anita entered a singing competition, winning first place, in “Catch a Rising Star” show at Fort Sam Houston in Texas. She was very proud of that achievement.
Anita was often the life of the party and enjoyed singing Karaoke, even with those of us who are vocally impaired. She had a magnetic energy and always encouraged others to celebrate along with her song. She was a genuine friend to all and had a unique talent for making everyone feel special. At a very young age, her mother once said to her, “You’ll never be a stranger, because your personality draws people to you.” Anita’s circle of family and friends exemplifies the validity of her mother’s statement.
Anita’s pets were very important to her. She loved them as if they were her own children. They brought a special joy to her heart and fullness to her life.
Anita leaves to cherish her memory, special dog-child, Millie Robinson; her brother, Marcus “Boo” (Melinda) Robinson, Sr.; nieces and nephews, Tommy Robinson, Jr., Lonnie Grandberry, Jr., Markesha Robinson, Marcus Robinson, Jr., Tiara Grandberry, Isaiah Robinson, Jessica Grandberry, Chacon Carter-Jefferson; special aunts, Phyllis Lott, Sandra Love, Rose Wiggins; special uncles, Joseph Westmoreland, Tommy Westmoreland, Robert Westmoreland; special cousins, Janice Brown, Kenesha Brown; best friend, Michelle Dogan; other relatives and dear friends too numerous to mention.
In addition to her parents, Anita is preceded in death by her sister, Leda Quintell Robinson; brother, Thomas James Robinson, Jr.; step-father, Eugene Hausmann; paternal grandparents, Isaac Robinson and Icy Wright; maternal grandparents, Joseph Herbert Westmoreland and Frances Odell Westmoreland; special dog child, Max Robinson; other aunts and uncles.
A homegoing service will be celebrated on Friday, January 9, 2015, 11:00am, at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home and Crematory, 4600 County Line Road, with Rev. Melvin D. Hargrove officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00am until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery.
The family would like to offer a special “Thank You” to Janice Jones for being right at Anita’s side in the hospital. The love and care you have given will not be forgotten.

I did not know Ms. Anita; however, we had two things in common. We both served our Country as Civil Servants, and as Born-Again believers in Jesus Christ. May God’s Peace, that surpasses all understanding, envelop Ms. Anita’s family, friends and co-workers. Rest in Peace, Ms. Anita and we will see you again. In Jesus’ Name. Bob

To: Marcus(BOO) and the rest of the Family. It’s hard for me to find the words that might bring you comfort at this time of loss..but perhaps just knowing that I am thinking of you with sympathy and understanding will somehow help to give you strength at this difficult time..ONE DAY AT A TIME ALWAYS.

Only yesterday did I learn of her passing. We both were in Chapel Hill choir at one time and I called on her to sing during Victims Crime Prevention memorials. It saddens me that we lost touch in the same city.
