Racine – Marian Kay Dexter, 69, received the promise of eternal life on Tuesday, July 7, 2015. She was born in Minnesota on November 3, 1945, daughter of the late Archie and Bernice (nee: Nybeck) Machart.
Marian was united in marriage to the love of her life, John Dexter, on December 27, 1969, at Faith Lutheran Church in Sturtevant. John preceded her in death on April 9, 2011.
Marian graduated from Washington High School in Sioux Falls, SD, in 1963. She received her bachelor’s degree in education from Sioux Falls College in 1967. Marian taught in Lamars, IA, before moving to Racine where she taught in the Racine Unified School District. Following her teaching career, Marian worked as a supervisor for Careers Industries.
She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church. She volunteered her time not only at the church but at Concordia Lutheran School as well. Marian played the accordion back in the day and also loved to vacation with her family. She especially enjoyed trips to casinos. Marian was a regular customer at Panera where the staff knew her by first name. Above all, she was a doting mother and grandmother. She loved to spoil the children by taking them shopping or on some fun excursion. Marian will be dearly missed by her entire family.
Marian leaves to cherish her memory her sons, Bradley (Janet) Dexter, Nathan (Kim) Dexter, both of Racine; grandchildren, Brandon Dexter, Sydney Dexter, Tori Dexter, Riley Dexter, all of Racine; sister, Mary (Ragene) Darling of Logan, IA; sister-in-law, Julie (Eberhardt) Esser of Kenosha; William (Pat) Dexter of Racine, Arthur (Jill) Dexter of Racine; other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
Visitation will be on Monday, July 13, 2015, 5pm until 7pm, at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home and Crematory, 4600 County Line Road.
