Mary Margaret Braun, 84, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, July 24, 2015, at 11:03 pm, surrounded by the love of her family. Mary was born in Racine on August 20th, 1930, daughter of the late William P. and Mary A. (nee: Held) Kowalsky.
She was a 1948 Graduate of St Catherine’s High School. On June 24, 1950, she was united in marriage to Jerome (Jerry) G. Braun. She dedicated much of her life to being a homemaker, a loving wife to her husband of 56 years, until widowed in 2007, and loving mother to her five children. She was also a grandmother and great grandmother of her two grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She enjoyed knitting, embroidery, bird watching, especially humming birds and her flowers. In later life, she enjoyed the company of her two favorite canines, Harley and Hawkeye.
Surviving are four of her five children, Judith Braun, Marlene Braun, Michael (Debbie) Braun, Thomas (Michelle) Braun; two grandchildren, Michael (Sue Ann) Braun, Rebecca Braun; two great grandchildren, Joseph and Sarah Braun; sisters-in-law, Betty Kowalsky, Mary Ann Rufer, Monica Braun; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her beloved husband Jerome “Jerry” Braun in 2007; beloved son, Jerry Braun in 1976; her; sisters, Gloria Kowalsky, Anna Mae (Howard) Herman; brothers, William (Mary) Kowalsky, Richard Kowlasky, Joseph Kowalsky and other relatives too numerous to list. She was greatly loved and will be dearly missed by all her family, extended family and friends.
A memorial celebration of Mary’s life will take place on Monday, August 3, 2015, 5:00pm, at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home and Crematory, 4600 County Line Road, with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00pm until the time of the service. Private burial will take place at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery. The family has suggested memorials to the COPD Foundation.
