A Celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at St. Paul Baptist Church, 1123 Center St. at 11:00am. Visitation will be at the church from 10:00am until the time of service. ~~Irene Allen, 85, passed away peacefully at her residence on October 6, 2015 with her family by her side.
Irene was born on August 3, 1930 in Greenwood, Mississippi, to Samuel and Eula Mae (nee: Harris) Allen. She and her family moved to Racine in the early 1950's. She worked closely with doctors as a Health Unit Coordinator at St. Mary's Hospital for more than 30 years. After retiring from the hospital, she was employed in Boston Store's Women's Clothing Department at Regency Mall and enjoyed her co-workers and assisting customers.
Irene, a devoted, long-time member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, was a Deaconess and took part in the Senior Mission Society and the Sunday School Group.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Burnice and Samuel Jr. and nephew, James Allen. Left to cherish her beautiful memories are her sister, Alma; brother, Clarence (Maryann Owen); sisters-in-law, Georgia Allen of Milwaukee, WI and Marilyn Allen of Seattle, WA; nieces and nephews, Cynthia (Carnell) Canada and Craig (Deborah) Allen all of El Cajon, CA, Keveen Shaba of Atlanta, GA, Sharon (Tony Bates) Gordon, Debra (Murray) Holmes and Annette Allen all of Milwaukee, WI, Eric Allen and Christopher Allen both of Racine, WI, Jerrell Allen of New Albany, MS, Michael Allen of Los Angeles, CA, Nicholas Allen and Heather Allen both of Seattle, WA, Trinity Gordon of Dallas, TX, Jason (Kaleka) Gordon, Ian Lewis, Angelica Buford and Michael Buford all of Milwaukee, WI, LaFayette (Rochelle) Gordon of Brown Deer, WI, Rickey Buford of Waukesha, WI and Tonisha (Gregory) Smith of Jackson, MS.
Irene's family would like to extend their heart-felt gratitude to her niece, Annette Allen whose kindness, gentleness and watchful eye brought comfort to Irene during her illness. Irene was also blessed to have the loving care and companionship of her great-nephew Eric Allen. A special thank you goes to Hospice Alliance for their assistance, support and compassion.
The family of Irene Allen acknowledges with deep appreciation the many expressions of sympathy, comforting messages, prayers and every act of graciousness during their hour of bereavement.

It saddened my heart to just find out that Ms. Irene has transitioned. My heart is so heavy. She was such a great person. I truly enjoyed knowing her for the time that I did. Rest on my sweet angel. You have definitely earned your wings.
