Miller's FlowersRacine – John Adam Judon, age 83, passed away peacefully at Ascension All Saints Hospital on Tuesday, December 27, 2016.
John was born in Pontotoc, Mississippi on December 9, 1933 to the late Peter and Emma Lou (nee: Johnson) Judon. His family moved to Racine when he was seven years old. On December 12, 1954, John was united in marriage with the love of his life, Mary (nee: Kirksey) Judon, who preceded him in death on January 6, 2012.
John proudly served our Country with the United States Army. He was employed by Nash, American Motors and Chrysler since age 18, retiring as a die setter after 40 years of service. John was a member of Second Missionary Baptist Church was he served as a volunteer. During his lifetime, he enjoyed drawing, building toys out of wood, was a boxer, watched sports and westerns. Above all, John was a true family man who believed in helping out family members in their time of need.
Surviving are his adored daughter, Donna Judon; cherished granddaughters, Mary (Stephen) Davis and Jennifer (Bode) Aremy; great-grandchildren, Darrius Quincy Judon-Carpenter, Malise Adonna Judon-Carpenter and Frede Marie Judon; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Barbara McWhorter, Jenell Hall, Barbara Kirksey, Sarah Jean (Robert) Walker, Jerome Kirksey, Bernice Warner, Venery Morgan and Florine Judon; son-in-law, Fred Turner; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents and wife, John was preceded in death by his sisters, Nellie Virginia Shaw and Dorothy Martin; brother, Ezekial Judon; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Johnnie Bell, John Kirksey, Bernie “Tom” McWhorter, George Shaw and Robert Hall.
A Homegoing Celebration will be held on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at 11:00 am in St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, 1123 Center Street, with Bishop Lawrence L. Kirby and Rev. Daryn D. Crenshaw officiating. Interment, with military honors, will follow Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Monday from 5:00 – 7:00 pm and in the church on Tuesday from 10-11 am.
