Kenosha – Mitchell G. Potts, 62, known affectionately by those who loved him as “Bobo”, received the promise of eternal life on Wednesday, February 1, 2017, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born in Detroit, MI, on February 8, 1954, son of the late Herman and Evelyn (Née: Burns) Potts.
Mitchell was united in marriage to the love of his life, Victoria Lynn Alwardt, on August 19, 1972, at First Methodist Church in Kenosha.
Mitch proudly and faithfully served his country in the United States Navy from 1972 until 1976. He was a furnace operator for Anchor Glass and was a groundskeeper for St. Joseph’s. As a young man, Mitch enjoyed playing baseball, hockey, and bowling. He was an avid reader and loved to study war history, especially the Civil War. Above all, Mitch adored his children and grandchildren. He was loved tremendously and will be dearly missed.
Mitch leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Vickie Potts; children, Joshua (Melissa Leigh) Potts, Sabrina Barndollar; grandchildren, Blake Barndollar, Breyden Potts; siblings, Joseph (Anita) Potts, Tami Potts, Brian Potts; sister-in-law, Connie Potts; brothers-in-law, Howard (Barbara) Alwardt, Sherman (Bonnie) Alwardt, Wayne “Buddy” (Traci) Alwardt; other relatives and dear friends too numerous to mention.
A celebration of Mitchell’s life will be held on Monday, February 6, 2017, 6:00pm, at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home and Crematory, 4600 County Line Road, Mt. Pleasant. Visitation will be from 4:00pm until the time of the service. Private burial will take place at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park.
The family would like to extend a heart-felt “Thank You” to Molly and the staff at Hospice Alliance, Dr. Joshua Bloom, Dr. Michael Zeihen, Dr. Peter Mariani, and all the staff at St. Catherine’s Hospital for the care given to Mitchell and his family during his illness and this difficult time.
