To my family. There is so much I can say about my second mother. I love her so much. I remember her banana pudding, grits, Dinah Shore, Carol Burnett, basketball games, watering the grass and spraying us with the hose (on purpose), eating fresh fruit from Tallahassee, going to Wayman, listening to Jackie, Carolyn, Debbie, Sharon, Zeetee and the twins rehearse while we stood under the window and listened. I remember that Mrs. Williams would accept collect calls from Marilyn and I when we were in college in Iowa. I remember that Mr. Williams would pick us up from the bus station if mama or daddy couldn’t get us. We grew up together in the most loving neighborhood with the most loving people. I will never forget Mrs. Williams, Mrs. Works, Mrs. Sanders and my mother playing old fashion basketball in Mrs. Sanders’ backyard. We even had our own hairstylist, Mrs. Robinson. Oh yeah, and don’t forget Peanut, Rusty and Sonnie’s black, shaggy dog. I love you all. Mrs. Williams will definitely be missed, but Never forgotten.
