Racine – Mr. Phillip Glenn Claybrook, aka “Tin Man,” passed away on May 3, 2018, at the age of 55 at Ascension All Saints Hospital.
Phillip was born in Friendship, TN on October 14, 1962 to the late Willie C. Claybrook, and to the late Dorothy Williams. He attended the Racine Unified schools where he participated in track and Field, and was known as the number one running back for Horlick High School Rebels football team. He broke many records on the track, and scored many touchdowns on the football field. He worked various jobs in Racine, as well as Ohio. He enjoyed music, singing, watching whatever he could on his big screen TV, cracking jokes, and spending time with friends and family. His favorite song, “It’s so hard to say good-bye to yesterday”.
Phillip leaves to cherish his loving memories, five siblings: Karen Golden of Nashville, TN, Keith Claybrook of Stanley, WI, Valerie (Rodney) McLain of Racine, WI, Carol Tatum of Friendship, TN, Monica Wright of Vancouver, WA; grandmother: Lilly Claybrook of Dyersburg, TN, special lady friend of 20 years, Brenda Thompson of Racine, WI; two uncles: Sammie Ward Jr. of Racine, WI, J.E. Hegar of Kanas City; four Aunts: Mary Bowen of Jackson, TN, Barbra (James) Selph, of Carbondale, IL, Vella Denny of Dyersburg, TN, Betty Ward of Green Bay, WI; Special buddies: Charles Helm and Willie McDonald, both of Racine, WI, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He is preceded in death by both parents, sister Bonita, and brother Willie L. Claybrook.
A Homegoing Celebration will be held on Friday, May 11, 2018 at 11:00 am at Dominion Church of God MPGT (402 – 9th Street in Racine) with Bishop Kelvin Weatherspoon officiating. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery. Viewing will be in the church on Friday from 10:00 – 11:00 am.
