Cynthia Ann (nee: Baker) Prather was born December 1, 1965 in Racine, WI to James and Lura Baker (Turner). She departed this life on Saturday, May 19, 2018. She attended J.I. Case High School and obtained her GED from Gateway Technical College. Cindy was united in marriage to Lance R. Prather on October 20, 1987.
Cindy was employed for many years as a caregiver and housekeeper. She spent her spare time solving crossword puzzles, crocheting, listening to her music and enjoying life on her own terms. She was known for speaking her mind, playing her banjo, and cussing and kicking folks out at knife point!
Cindy was proceeded in death by her mother Lura L. Kirk, father James Baker Sr., brother James (Squeeky) Baker, brother Jerry Baker, step-father David J. Kirk, father-n-law Willie D. Prather, and several other uncles, aunts, cousins and friends. She is survived by 3 daughters Lashunda Prather, Taleeka Baker, and Tramara (Billy Petty II) Prather, grandchildren Shalaya, Shante, Billy, Brooklyn, Travell, William and great grandchild Vanissa, all of Racine, WI. She also leaves to cherish 2 brothers Daryl Baker of Racine, WI and Tyrone Kirk of Florissant, MO; three sisters Vanissa Kirk of Florissant, MO, Armintta Franklin, Mertarsha (Willie) Fondren of Racine, 6 sister-in-laws Mary Martinez, Lorna Prather, Leslie Prather, Lorretta Rutherford, Lisa White-Roe and Lynn Lother; a special mother-in-law Effie Lacey; special nieces and nephews, Amari Kirk, Christopher Kirk, Megan Farrah, Daniqua Baker, Nyi’ema Gentry; Levi Gentry, Kai Gentry, Nadia Franklin, Willie Fondren Jr, LaQuisha Franklin, Vesna Franklin, J’lesia Fondren, Jaceon Fondren, Terrellus, Tamia, Amiah, Tiyi, Tatiana, Tarean, Terrance, Thomas, Travis, Tramal, Tavaris, and Trent; special friend Tykia Norris, Tanisha Norris, Melody McMorris, Raymond Oliver, and Michael Brooks, cousins Orlando Turner, Steven Turner, Debra Turner, Pat Turner and a host of uncles, cousins, friends and family.
Cynthia Ann (nee: Baker) Prather, age 52, passed away on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at Ascension-All Saints Hospital in Racine, Wisconsin. A Celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at 6:00pm in the Chapel of Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home, 4600 County Line Rd, Racine, WI. The Visitation will be in the Funeral Home from 4:00pm until the time of service. Interment will take place at West Lawn Cemetery.
