He rode it in many parades over the years and took his last ride on it when he was 91.
Charlie loved traveling with his wife in their Suburban and travel trailer and did many family vacations across the country. Florida was their popular winter destination. He loved spending summertime up north, which became his home in his remaining years. He was a huge camera buff and never left home without one in his pocket. He left many wonderful memories through his picture taking. He loved dogs and always carried treats in his pocket in case he came across a friendly pup.

John Rohner says
Condolences to the May Family, especially to John and Tom who I went to Richards Grade school with. Occasionally, I would drive by Charlie’s house and seen him sitting on the front porch. Sometimes I would stop and visit with him for a little while. Sometimes we would go to the Dog House and he would show me a project he was working on. I asked him if he still had the old Harley motorcycle that he would let us young kids sit on and pretend we were driving. He said come with me and we went to the garage, took the cover off, and there she was. This brought back a lot of fond memories. You are all very fortunate to have him as long as you did.
