Dawn Marie Coey, 58, passed away, unexpectedly, in the comfort of her home. She was born in Racine on December 29, 1960.

Dawn devoted her life to her family as a stay at home mom.  She was the “Jane of all trades” handling anything and everything within the home from the tree cutting to the cooking.  Her children were her pride and joy, as she often outlined in the beautiful poems she wrote.  She made nightly family dinners and family vacations a priority. Dawn was a dog owner her entire life and loved each and every one of them as a member of the family.  She had an incredible eye for design, from her fashion to her impeccable home.  Dawn was an avid pool player, was known for the hats she wore so well, and was a lover of her sports cars and sunshine.  She had the ability to bring happiness everywhere with her sense of humor and had a smile that would light any room. She will be deeply missed by her family, and all that knew her.

Surviving are her children; Ashley Coey, Tony J. Coey; her beloved granddaughter, Mila; mother, Gretchen Neibaur; former husband, father of her children, and special friend, Tony Coey, all of Racine; her loving dogs and companions, Lambo, Raji, and grandpuppy Coco. Dawn’s aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, other relatives and a host of friends also survive her. She was preceded in death by her grandparents Joseph and Marie Wasinack father, James Neibaur, and special friend, Cheryl Povkovich.

Rest in piece Dawn. I will cherish the friendship we had., Though it was not long enough., it will never be forgotten. You were funny, mostly hysterical, interesting, vivid, classy, relatable, unforgettable and definitely a gift to have known you. In the small amount of times we connected, it was always impactful and always extremely interesting. No topic was to big or small to sneak in some huge laughs. Thank you for mothering 2 beautiful children that I now have been blessed to call friends that are family. Your life here with us was not long enough, but you will always be with us. Every family member and every friend will see you with the presence of your children. Your ashley …she is everything you were. I often find myself intrigued in her and the ways about her, I’m always questioning , is that from your mom. Knowing her love for cooking, cleaning, decorating, vacationing, nice car, home and attire, was all inspired for you and your ways. The things you did, the things she seen, the talks you had. Your son Tony, well his face is yours, not a single person could deny. We see him and think Dawn. His roar of a laugh, his beaming smile, is mischievous grin, his love for life and anything that brings excitement. His amazing talent to bring all that attitude and still be the polite, mannered, kind young man, that once he speaks, you think, his mom had a huge forming of his personality and she taught him well. Our friendship, although small, was a gift. I feel honored to have had,it, and blessed . I now now can have a life time of laughs-and talks with you, when we all meet again , Always and forever, Renne

Where do I begin to express my sympathy in the loss of Dawn I’m at a loss. A flood of memories stream through my mind as I sit and reminisce of the times/years we spent together as “Best friends” in our teenager years and twenties .Thinking back I don’t even remember how we exactly even met, Just that we connected and became Besties immediately..Inseparable for many years.

Memories from the little house on Ellis, Our High School days at Walden, Our trip to Florida,Her wedding and the list goes on has passed through my mind the last several days. Our lives as we got older took different paths as many friendships do but she has never left my heart or thoughts over the years as she was the most faithful friend a person could ask for then and over the years as I look back. It was always a plus to see her driving her corvette with her baseball hat on and a quick wave and smile even a phone call here and there over the years to catch up on the years that had passed between contact and a conversation about our families. Her smile would always brighten a room and you could always count on laughing at least once or twice during a conversation with her.
Gretchen, Tony and family I can only imagine how heavy your hearts are and you have my/our deepest sincere condolences. Nothing can ease the pain I know you all are feeling but rest assured when you see the sun shining the brightest down on you that it’s Dawn lighting up the skies with her personality and her big bright smile.

Testimonials

October 22, 2015

Mike,
Words cannot adequately convey our gratitude for all you did to honor our family member and friend, Mert Fleury. Like with her husband Ray, years ago, you and your staff went above and beyond to help us through this difficult time and to give Mert a wonderful celebration of her life. Every detail was considered, all of our requests were given unfailing attention, and the little extras took our breath away. Every sad feeling and every tear was matched two-fold with feelings of gratitude and comfort because of what you did. We will be forever grateful!
The Fleury Family

David Fleury
