Union Grove – Janice Jean (nee: Rank) Dreger, age 67, passed away on Tuesday, October 8, 2019 surrounded with the love of her family, following a courageous battle with thyroid cancer.
Janice was born in Wisconsin Rapids on August 6, 1952 to Edward and Lorraine (nee: Feldt) Rank. A 1970 graduate of JI Case High School, she was employed for over 40 years as a secretary at Racine Unified School District. Jan was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Union Grove.
Jan was a very selfless person….if you needed help she would be the first one to offer her time. Among her interests, Jan enjoyed reading, fishing, casinos, rummage sales, shopping, art – especially painting and was a longtime patron of the Racine Theater Guild. Above all, she loved spending time with all of her family and friends – especially her grandchildren.
Surviving are her daughter, Jody Dreger; grandchildren, Heather Poisl, Anna Yarrington, Morgan Yarrington and Scott Yarrington; mother, Lorriane Campolo; brothers and sisters, Larry (Elo) Rank, Jim (Char Massey) Rank, Nancy Rank, Dale (Jan) Rank, Diane Rank and Carol Rank; sisters-in-law, Tessy Rank and Kelly Rank; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Jan was preceded in death by her father, Edward Rank; brother, Ken Rank; and brother-in-law, Jim Dodson.

Norah McCue says
Jan was one of the best co-workers I have ever had. She made my job easier in dozens of ways. She was an asset to Case HS as a subschool secretary in the days before everything was computerized. She was unfailingly generous with her time and attention to students, teachers, and parents –whoever appeared in front of her desk and needed help. She was an example showing that efficiency and caring can be accomplished at the same time.
