Racine – Ernest G. DeLaO, 69, of Racine, passed away at Ascension All Saints on Wednesday, April 15, 2020.
He was born in Racine on April 7, 1951, the son of the late Santiago and Mollie (nee: Gomez) DeLaO. He graduated from JI Case High School.
Ernest, also known as, “Honest Ernest” and “Blood”, loved to play pool, dance, get on some craps table action, fishing and thoroughly enjoyed debating sports with anyone who would engage with him. He would say “those Green Bay Packers are cheating against my Cowboys.” He also enjoyed spending time with his companion, Sandy. They took rides on his motorcycle, traveled, enjoyed gambling and going to festivals. He very much enjoyed family events where all the best conversations took place. Some of his favorite sayings included: “Grandpa can walk on water,” “DeLaO girls put the spandex to the test,” “Watch out don’t get too close to my creases. They’re so sharp they might cut you.”
He is survived by his sons, David (Brooke) DeLaO of North Carolina and Ernesto (Debi) DeLaO of Racine; his grandchildren, David II, Hunter, Braeden, Anthony, Chelsea Klaus; his great grandchildren, David III and Isaac; his sisters, Gloria (Vincent) Rodriguez, Marjorie DeLaO, Theresa Quiroz; his brothers, Fred DeLaO and Jimmy (Irma) DeLaO; as well as many dear nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his very special cousins whom he considered brothers, George and Isaac Villarreal. He loved his Villarreal family very much.
When the “Stay Safe Home” order is over a private interment will take place at West Lawn Memorial Park. A party celebrating Ernest’s life will take place this summer.

To the family and friends of our friend Ernie DeleO. Although Rudy and him had been lifetime friends, I met him when I was in high school. What a delightful and caring person he was. His obituary was right on about him. Oh he loved to dance and he was definitely a pool shark. Our sincerest sympathies and prayers go out to his family and friends. May Ernie Rest In Peace 🙏.
