Betty Jean Cihler, 89, of Racine, passed away peacefully at Ascension-All Saints Hospital on Thursday, October 28, 2021. She was born in Racine on February 4, 1932, the daughter of the late Viggo and Anna (nee: Nielson) Nielsen.
She was united in marriage to Eugene “Cy” Cihler who preceded her in death on November 22, 1995. In addition to her parents and beloved husband, Betty was preceded in death by her eight brothers and sisters.
Her family was everything to her, and all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought a very special joy to her life. Betty Cihler, known as “Ma Ci” to all, leaves behind her five loving sons: Frank Cihler, John Cihler, Victor (Jennifer) Cihler, David (Dawn Squirrel) Cihler, and Rick (Vickie) Cihler, all of Racine. She was deeply loved and cherished by her grandchildren, Michelle (Michael) Dlugi, Angela Leal, Rose Cihler, Victor (Angel) Cihler Jr., John David (Sarah) Cihler, John Matthew Cihler, Samantha Cihler, Crystal Cihler, Jade Cihler, Raven Cihler, Axel Cihler, Laine (Jacob) Scharding, Cayce ( Jason) Price, and Henry (Evana Juarez) Cihler. Betty was every child’s grandma and will be missed so much by her great-grandchildren (29) and one great-great-grandchild who called her “Grandma Birdie”. She is further survived by her sister-in-law, Karen Nielsen, her niece, Janet Nielsen, her nephew, Robert McMahon, and many, many other friends and people whose lives she has touched over the years.
Betty had an infectious smile that would light up any room. She made everyone feel welcome and was loved by all. Betty was a longtime employee of the Elmwood Bar and Restaurant. She was an avid reader and bird watcher, loved playing cards and Bingo, going to rummage sales, and eating Mexican food. She loved Christmas, but what she loved most of all about Christmas is the Christmas Program that her Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren would perform for her every year.
Betty was truly a wonderful woman and will always be “Our Sunshine”.

I remember your mom from the neighborhood. She always had a beautiful, wide smile when I would see her. You kids gave her plenty to worry about and through it all she loved everyone of you unconditionally. Moms are the best.
