Petals by FeliciaRacine, WI. – Deacon Clift Scales, age 81 transitioned on Sunday December 5, 2021. He was born in New Albany, Mississippi, the youngest son of 13 children of the late Dan Sr. and Mary Magdalene Scales (nee: Brooks). Clift left Mississippi in 1955 and relocated in Chicago, IL and later in Racine WI with dreams of a more prosperous life. Clift received his formal education in the New Albany MS school system. Clift worked several years at Sivyer Steel/ Belle City before retiring due a work related injury.
Clift professed Christ at an early age, was true to his faith. He was a devoted Deacon for many years at New Beginnings of Faith Church under the spiritual leadership of the Pastor Rev. Prentiss Robbins Jr. until his health failed him and he was no longer able to serve.
Clift always had a big smile and a jovial laugh. He leaves to cherish his most fond memories to his beloved daughter Heidi of Racine, WI. Two precious sisters Mary Ann Taylor, of Racine, WI; Lillie of Dallas, Texas, and his sister in law Willie Mae (Shevel) Scales of Racine, WI. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews and a host of family and friends too numerous to count, not to be forgotten his special nephew, Shevell and long-time friend James Barker.
In addition to his parents, Clift was preceded in death by 6 sisters, Luezella, Hattie (Celois) Vaughn, Mattie Lee (James) Blake, Samella Black, Ada, Sister and 4 brothers, Dan “Buddy” Jr (Mary), Willie Lee, Shevel, and Bennie.
A Celebration of Clift’s Life will be held on Friday, December 17, 2021 5:00pm in the chapel of Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home, 4600 County Line Rd., Racine, WI. Visitation will be in the chapel 4:00pm – 5:00pm.
Masks must be worn at all times while in the funeral home.
