Elmwood Park – Ellis Earl Steiner, age 80, passed away on Friday morning, February 11, 2022. He died peacefully at home, surrounded by his family.
Ellis was born in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin on December 15, 1941 to the late Norbert Peter Steiner and Elva Marie (nee: Latham) Steiner. He spent his childhood in Fox Lake and Beaver Dam and was a 1959 graduate of Beaver Dam High School. After high school, Ellis was admitted to the University of Wisconsin at Oshkosh. Living in Oshkosh gave him the opportunity to meet and fall in love with Mary Ann Kellerman. Ellis and Mary Ann were united in marriage on August 10, 1963 at Saint Peter Catholic Church in Oshkosh.
Ellis began his professional career in 1966 as a sales executive for Walker Manufacturing Company of Racine, Wisconsin. He held a number of executive positions over 25 years with Walker before ending his corporate career as a vice president with the Jacobus Company of Milwaukee. Ellis finally realized his dream of running his own business when he formed Cornerstone Sales and Marketing and served as a representative of the Sauereisen line of products. Ellis ran Cornerstone part-time until his death.
Ellis was a proud member of Faithbridge Church (formerly Evangelical United Methodist) where his involvement included many areas of ministry over the years. He served as a trustee, a lay member teacher, was involved in many Sunday school classes, including the Crossbearer, and even tried singing in the choir! He also worked with the Prison Ministry and Friends of the Family Ministries.
In his later years, Ellis continued running his business while also serving as President of the Village of Elmwood Park. But he spent most of his time carefully tending to his yard, long road trips in his car with Mary Ann, fishing, and even the occasional golf game. With the arrival of autumn, he looked forward to the cool days preparing for winter in his yard and of course watching the Green Bay Packers. He loved going out to eat at Wells Brothers or DeRose’s for Friday night pizza or fish fry with his best friend and constant companion Mary Ann. Above all, Ellis loved spending time with his extended family, especially his grandchildren. The two greatest loves of Ellis and Mary Ann’s life were their family and their faith.
Surviving are his children, Michael J. Steiner and his wife, Nada Filipovich, of Saint Paul, Minnesota; Ann C. Steiner-Saab and her husband, Fouad Saab, of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin; and Kathryn “Katie” J. Steiner of Katy, Texas; grandchildren, Anya Steiner (Eric Johnson), Josef Steiner, Elise Steiner, Nicholas Saab (Hanan), Madeline Saab, Lily Saab and Sophia Saab; great-grandsons, Aiden and Isaac Saab; brother, Larry (Sue) Steiner; sisters, Odessa (LaMoyne) Stofflet and Sharron Helsinger; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives, church family and friends.
Ellis was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved and deeply-missed Mary Ann who passed away May 14, 2021.

I’m sorry to hear of the passing of my cousin, Ellis, but know he is with our Lord and Savior. I will not be able to attend as it would be a 3 hr. drive for me to Franksville but I will watch the service on the You Tube link. I was thankful for the visit with Ellis at Larry’s birthday party a few years ago. A memorial will be sent to the Youth Ranch in South Carolina as requested.
