Aiello Midtown FloristRacine – Minnie Marie (nee: Anzalone) Modesti, age 90, passed away on Sunday evening, June 16, 2024 at Ascension All Saints Hospital. She had a strong devotion to Our Lady, the Rosary and her Brown Scapular. All three with Minnie until she took her last breath and went to Heaven.
Minnie was born in Racine on July 30, 1933 to the late Alfonzo and Rose (nee: Falbo) Anzalone. She attended Sacred Heart Grade School and St. Catherine’s High School. On August 30, 1950 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Minnie was united in marriage with the love of her life, Eugene Arthur Modesti Sr.
Always a tireless worker, Minnie had been employed by their family restaurant “Jubilee Pizza”, Western Printing, lunch lady at West Ridge School, PDQ cashier, manager of the concession stand at Johnson Park Golf Course, McGraw-Edison and most notably, secretary of her & Eugene’s family business, Modesti Realty Inc., which continues to serve our community today. Above all, Minnie’s most treasured vocation in life was succeeding as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother & great-grandmother. Nothing was more important to Minnie than her entire family. She was the most loving, beautiful, selfless matriarch of their family. While we grieve the loss of Minnie, let us also celebrate the joy and love she brought into our lives. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten, as her spirit continues to shine bright in the memories we hold dear.
Catholic by faith, Minnie was a proud and faithful member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. Outside of family, Minnie enjoyed cooking her Italian food including homemade pizza on Saturday and hosting her family for Sunday spaghetti dinners, baking Italian cookies and making homemade cakes for all of the family special occasions. She enjoyed bowling, ceramics, and watching movies and her favorite shows.
Surviving are her children, Rose Ann (Bye) Zickus, Eugene Jr.(Gino), (Kelly) Modesti and Katherine (Patrick) Neis; grandchildren, Carrie (Shane) Conner, Sarah (Lou) Gillmore, Danielle (Eric) Scott, Nicole (Jeff) Kimpel, Karly (Jason) Rodriguez and Michael (Kerah) Modesti; great-grandchildren, Hope (fiancé, Zane Parchem), Hannah, Max and Chase Conner; Everett, Kolette and Maverick Gillmore; Lucas and Theo Scott; Samuel Kimpel; Alayna, Kaiden and Caroline Rodriguez; and Shia Modesti; sister, Mary Ann (Dave) Porcaro; sister-in-law, Rose Marie Domanico; Goddaughter and niece, Cindy Van Elzen, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and dear friends, too many to mention all by name.
In addition to her parents, Minnie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Eugene Sr. (passed away March 28, 2019); granddaughter, Gina Marie; Eugene’s parents, Profillio and Rose Modesti; sister-in-law, Aloida (Stanley) Porcaro; brothers-in-law, Alex (Shirley) Modesti and Charles Domanico.

I was heartbroken to hear about Minnie leaving us. I got the pleasure of meeting her at Brookside in PT and was blessed to find her again when I started home health. Minnie was one of the sweetest ladies that I’ve ever met. Always had concern for her family, friends , and would call me on multiple occasions to wish me a happy holiday or happy birthday or just plain call. She had the most lovely family who supported her through everything she had to undergo. I will never forgot your laugh and your spunk. Your family was so lucky to have you and I was lucky to have met you. Rest in heaven. Til we meet again.
