Join us in celebrating William’s life and homegoing at the funeral service to be held at Midtown Church of Christ, 1704 13th Street, on June 22, 2024, at 11:00 am. Prior to the service, a public viewing will take place at the church at 10:00 am, where we will come together to honor and remember the incredible legacy William leaves behind.

Aiello Midtown FloristAfter a life of laughter, love, and loyalty, William Jerome Pompey passed away on June 15, 2024, leaving a lasting mark on all who knew him. Born on December 1, 1965, in Gary, Indiana, William had a zest for life that was unmatched.
A man with a contagious laughter and a love for a good cocktail, William brought joy to all who knew him. As the jokester in the room, he could light up any gathering with his wit and humor. A dedicated Chicago Bears fan, William’s passion for sports was undeniable. However, his greatest joy came from being a loving father, grandfather, and brother.
Cherishing his memory are his children, Taiwan (Quianna) Pompy, Tayana Thompson, Wade (Stephanie) Smith, Taireva Pompy, Tyasia Pompy-Robles, Tymaira Olney, Tyshauna Pompey, as well as his 13 cherished grandchildren, one great-grandchild, his siblings, Percy (Catherine) Pompey, Quentin Pompy, Arthur (Kristin) Pompy, Uhuru (Shondra) Pompy, Nima (Tony) Weatherly, Charita (Reginald) Wright, Aswadvuai (Heather) Pompy, Allah (Shavonda) Pompy, significant other, Shauneen Hobson, former wife, Tami Bartell, numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives, and dear friends too numerous to mention.
William was preceded in death by his parents, Percy and Celestine Pompy, paternal grandparents, Henry and Sarah Pompy, maternal grandparents, William and Celestine Johnson, brother, Alfonso Pompy, five uncles, five aunts, and his best friends, Eddie West and Rodolfo Villareal, Sr.
