A service celebrating her life will follow at 11:00 am.
A private interment will take place at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove.

MOUNT PLEASANT – Mrs. Carol J. Meyer, 86, passed away at St. Monica’s Senior Living on Thursday, July 18, 2024.
She was born in Milwaukee on October 8, 1937, the daughter of the late Harry Francis and Marion Wilhelmina Amelia (nee Butzlaff) Kotowski. She married Charles Fred Meyer on May 7, 1960, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. He preceded her in death on March 13, 1998.
Carol was a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church. She loved dancing, sewing, cooking, and baking and will be remembered for her Spanish casserole, sloppy joes, and roast beef. Carol bowled and golfed in her earlier years and enjoyed playing in her bridge club and participating in the Red Hat Society. She was a doting mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and was always smiling with a baby or animal in her lap.
Carol is survived by her daughter, Karen (James) Sytsma; her grandchildren, Jordan Mathieus, Jared Mathieus, Dr. Nicholas (Jeannie) Sytsma, Charles Sytsma, Peter Sytsma, Abigail Meyer, Kyle Meyer, and Lisa Mathieus; her great grandchildren, Tyler Mathieus, Emma Mathieus, Phoebe Jean Sytsma, and Jackson Mathieus; her son-in-law, Hal Mathieus; her daughter-in-law, Kristie Meyer; her brother, Richard (Jane) Kotowski; her nephew, Douglas (Laura) Kotowski; her niece, Sarah (Jes Gettler) Kotowski; and her dear friend, Kiyomi Bryson.
In addition to her parents and husband, Carol was preceded in death by her daughter, Linda Mathieus; her son, Curtis Meyer; and her nephew, Matthew Kotowski.

Carol’s family extends a heartfelt thank you to the entire staff at St. Monica’s and St. Croix Hospice for the loving and professional attention she received while under their care.

As I was in the presence of Aunt Carol growing up, my heart has always been filled with the joy of her lovely smile and never ending kindness. She reached out her unconditional love of life which never failed to flow like.a summer breeze on a beautiful country path of flowers in which the aroma gave peace to all walking the path of life by her side. We say love can only come within ones inner self!! But I believe Aunt Carol had an overflowing heart that filled all she touched. In our hearts forever we are blessed.

I very much enjoyed visiting with Carol. I came to see my friend Sara often and it was so wonderful to see Carol connect with Sara and lookout for her. We had a group of women at St Monica’s who would laugh and tell stories. We played bingo together some evenings. She will be missed. 💜
