Beverly Kern, 70, passed away peacefully, on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at Ascension All Saints Hospital Spring Street, Racine, WI. She was born in Racine to the late James Albert Kern and Ola Mae Kern-Johnson (nee: Bozeman). Beverly was a 1972 Washington Park High School graduate and went on to take classes at UW Parkside, Kenosha.
Beverly accepted Christ at 12 yrs of age and was a long term member of Church of Christ.
Her working career was diverse, working many years at Western Publishing until they closed their doors, and working various jobs at Community Action, Piggly Wiggly in the Deli Dept, Shopko, retail sales, bartending, school bus driver and as a clerical staff at her sister’s clinic, Child, Marriage & Family Therapy Clinic, until her health prevented her from working.
Beverly was an avid basketball and football lover; nothing could stop her from watching and cheering on televised NBA and NFL games. She loved to play volleyball, badminton and engage in a good game of smack talking spades. She was a strong supporter of voting, never missing an election since age 18 and loved to debate and discuss the candidates. In honor of her legacy, please vote. Beverly was known for making the best tacos, taco dip and potato salad, but most importantly she loved her family and would give them the shirt off of her back. Her legacy of love and devotion will continue to live on through her family, friends, and all who had the privilege to know her.
Beverly leaves to cherish her memories, her long time loving partner, Terynce Guthrie; her only son, Delon (Joi) Kern, Milwaukee, WI; her three grandchildren, Dylan Kern, Isaiah Kern and Josiah Wright, all of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, sister, Sharon (LeRoy) Johnson-Visor, Sun Lakes, AZ; brother, Darryl (Tip) Johnson, Myrtle, MS; her stepfather, Henry Johnson, Myrtle, MS, long time friend of over 50 yrs, Beverly Rush, Milwaukee, WI, as well as a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends that she dearly loved.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Ralph Kern-Johnson and Michael Kern-Johnson; her sister, Phyllis Kern; and grandmother, Laura Bozeman.
