Petals by FeliciaRacine – Delores “Loris” Jean Sims, age 87, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded with the love of her children, early Friday morning, November 22, 2024.
Delores was born in Racine on June 11, 1937, to the late Joseph and Frances (nee: Harding) Westmoreland. She went to Franklin School and Washington Park High School “Class of 1956”. On August 10, 1957, at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, Loris was united in marriage with a wonderful young man, Morris Dean Sims, Sr. They proudly celebrated their 63rd Wedding Anniversary on August 10, 2020. Shortly after, Morris passed away on October 22, 2020.
Delores sometimes attended Gregg Chapel Christian Methodist Episcopal Church under the leadership of Rev. David R. Green. Among her interests, she enjoyed solving word searches & crossword puzzles, and staying educated & informed regarding worldwide politics and news. She enjoyed watching political debates with her friend, Cheryl. She was an avid sports fan of the Milwaukee Bucks and GB Packers. She had a passion for interior decorating and design. Although a little on the private side, Loris was overwhelmingly charitable – having helped family, friends, and several charities – never wanting recognition or anything in return. Loris and Morris were instrumental in helping raise their grandchildren. Loris was all about her family.

The children of Delores would like to thank Compassus Hospice Nurses. You all provided our mother with such tender care and dignity. A special thank you to the ICU team at Ascension Health Care, who fought hard to pull our mother through, and bring her back home to us.
Carolyn says
Mommy I thank you for everything you and daddy did for us. You both gave us all a wonderful life. If I had this to do all over again, I would. It was an honor to care for you and protect you until the end. Letting you go was the hardest thing I ever had to do. Now you can rest eternally and forever be at peace. I love you and I miss you dearly.
