
Mr. Alfred F. Bedard, 78, passed away at WFH – All Saints on Sunday, December 18, 2011.
He was born in Fort Frances, Ontario Canada on July 8, 1933, the son of Joseph and Irene (nee: Mondou) Bedard. He graduated from Washington Park High School in 1953. After graduation, he served his nation with the U.S. Army while stationed in Korea. On October 9, 1965, he married the former Donna J. Poorman in St. Sebastian Catholic Church. Mr. Bedard worked as an expeditor for S.C. Johnson Wax before retiring after over 30 years of employment.
A devout Catholic, Mr. Bedard was a longtime member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church where he also served as a Eucharistic minister. He had many interests including, genealogy, traveling, music and antiquing with his wife and brother-in-law. However, his greatest joy came from the time spent with his family, especially with his grandchildren in Vermont, whom he adored.
In addition to his loving wife, Donna of Sturtevant his survivors include his daughter, Beth (Thomas) O’Keefe; grandchildren, Bridget and Evan O’Keefe all of South Burlington, VT; his sisters, Vivian Zember, Ruth (James) Bruno both of Racine, Laverne Hoglund of Necedah, WI; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Marty James of Racine, Edwin (Patricia) Poorman of Fort Wayne, IN, Marianne Level of West Palm Beach, FL, John (Chris) Poorman of Raymond; as well as many dear nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Bedard was preceded in death by his sister, Carol James and brother, Art Bedard.
Family and friends are invited to meet in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home and Crematory on Monday evening, December 26, 2011 for a visitation from 5-7 p.m. The celebration of Al’s life and memorial mass will take place on Tuesday the 27th at noon in St. Sebastian Catholic Church (3126 95th St. Sturtevant). There will also be a visitation in the church on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. His interment will take place at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove following the service. Memorials in Alfred F. Bedard’s name have been suggested to St. Sebastian Catholic Church.
A very special thank you to Dr. Michael Mullane and the entire oncology staff at WFH –Saints for the loving and professional care that was extended to Al and his family during his illness.
