Private services will be held for immediate family members at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
Racine – Anna “Ann” Margaret Sakkinen, age 94, passed away peacefully at Ascension – All Saints Hospital on Wednesday afternoon, December 13, 2017.
Anna was born in Germany on May 24, 1923 to the late Karl and Margaret (nee: Gruber) Kallert. On April 23, 1955 in Germany, she was united in marriage with Leonard Sakkinen, who preceded her in death on October 24, 2008. Ann proudly was a tireless fulltime stay-at-home Mother & Wife. Among her interests, Anna enjoyed knitting, crocheting and reading. Above all, she loved and cherished spending time & making memories with her entire family.
Surviving are her children, Gerhard Sakkinen, Karen (Allen) Kroll and Peggy (Frank) Prince; grandchildren, Trudy Hawks, Eric Schatzman, Benjamin (Marzena) Kroll, and Ryan (Kristi) Kroll; great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends – both in the United States and in Germany. In addition to her parents and husband, Ann was preceded in death by her five sisters and one brother.
A private service of committal for immediate family members will be held at the chapel of the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery (21731 Spring Street Union Grove, WI 53182).
A special note of thanks to the entire staff of Ascension All Saints Hospital- especially to the Wheaton Ascension Hospice for the compassionate care and support given in Anna’s time of need. May God bless all of you!
