Racine – Annette Florence (nee: DeGroot) Gedemer, age 95; beloved wife of the late Walter Gedemer; passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, May 16, 2017.
Annette was born in Racine on May 6, 1922 to the late Peter and Henrietta (nee: DeGroot) DeGroot. A graduate of Washington Park High School, she was united in marriage with Walter Otto Gedemer on February 16, 1946.
Among her interests, Annette enjoyed bowling, playing Bridge, feeding the birds, knitting, reading, working the election polls, and cooking family dinners every Sunday.
Surviving are her daughter, Sally (Julie Hunley) Nuciforo; grandchildren, Christopher (Jacquelyn) Nuciforo, Christy (James) Halsey, Matthew Nuciforo, Patrick (Lacey) Nuciforo, adopted granddaughters, Gabriela & Jordan Hunley; great-grandchildren, Lindsey & Jacob Halsey; Sophia & Parker Nuciforo; Carter Nuciforo; Braxton & Oliver Nuciforo; nieces, nephews; father of her grandsons, Paul Nuciforo, and other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, Annette was preceded in death by her husband, Walter; son, Ronald Gedemer; brother, Dr. Henry (Janet) DeGroot and sister, Hilda (Carl) Davis.
Funeral services will be held in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 1:30 pm with Rev. Kaye Glennon officiating. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Saturday from 12:30 – 1:30 pm. Private entombment will take place in West Lawn Memorial Park.
