Muskego (formerly of Racine) – Anthony Leroy “Tony” Navarro; age 48; passed away peacefully on Monday, March 2, 2015 at Zilber Family Hospice in Milwaukee after a courageous 3 year battle with cancer. Through his battle Tony never complained and was a true hero to all who knew him.
Anthony was born in Racine on October 31, 1966. A 1984 graduate of Jerome I. Case High School, Tony faithfully served our Country with United States Army during the Gulf War. As a teenager, he began working for Mrazek Flooring where he learned everything he could about the flooring business. With a tremendous amount of hard work and dedication, Tony went on to found and operate Advanced Quality Floor Coverings – where he earned the trust of many customers in Southeastern Wisconsin over the years.
On November 19, 2009, Anthony was united in marriage with the love of his life, Dayna (nee: Diessner) in Riviera Maya, Mexico. Tony was an all-around sports enthusiast who really enjoyed the game of golf (especially with his friends in the Muskego Lakes Country Club league). He also was a fitness fanatic – often working out at various gyms. Tony was loyal to his family, extensive circle of friends and to his Green Bay Packers & Chicago Cubs. He will be remembered for his unique sense of humor and for his zest for life. Tony was a faithful family man who loved hosting holiday parties – more so than most others do. Above all, Tony was the extremely proud father of his best-buddy, Nicholas Anthony “Nico” Navarro (age 3)….and was passionate about spending every available moment together.
Surviving are his loving wife and best-friend, Dayna; their cherished son, Nicholas “Nico”; mom, Marlene (nee: Longo) Fink; brothers and sisters, Robert Navarro, Stephanie (Frank) Gelmi, Robert Fink, Jr. and Faylene Luebke; Dayna’s parents, Dean and Debbie Diessner; grandmother, Gloria Diessner; brothers-in-law, Derek and Devin Diessner; aunts and uncles, Elizabeth Navarro, Carol Smith, Kathy Fink, Jack (Cheryl) Fink, Rick (Nancy) Fink, Denise (Michael) Colombo, Judy (Bob) Wroblewski; cousin, Lisa Avila; canine companion, Molly; feline friend, Maggie; and by many other dear relatives, neighbors and friends – way too numerous to mention all by name.
Tony was preceded in death by his step-father, Robert Fink; father, Benjamin Navarro; grandparents, Benjamin & Maria Navarro, Leroy & Tillie Longo, Heinz Diessner; cousin, Thomas Helding; and by his beloved cocker-spaniel, Magic.
Memorial services celebrating Tony’s life will be held in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 11:00 am (please come with a memory or short story about Tony to share). Military honors will follow. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Saturday from 9:00 – 11:00 am. In honor of Tony’s love for sports, all are encouraged to wear their favorite team apparel to the service. In accordance with Tony’s wishes, cremation will take place.
A heartfelt note of thanks to Dr. Ben George & the Moorland Reserve Staff; Dr. Kiran Turaga & the Froedtert Surgical Oncology team; Jessica Mitchell, NP & the Mayo Clinic Oncology team and the numerous other doctors, nurses and staff of Froedtert Hospital for the exceptional care provided over the past 3 years. Special thanks to Zilber Family Hospice for their compassionate care during the final hours of Tony’s life. Also, thanks to all of Tony’s family and friends who overwhelmingly supported him during his journey with cancer.
