Racine– Arthur Eugene Hansen, 88, passed away at the Wisconsin Veterans Home – Boland Hall on Thursday, December 16, 2010.
Arthur was born in Racine on August 2, 1922 to the late Severt and Mary (nee: Petersen) Hansen. A 1940 graduate of William Horlick High School, he went on to faithfully serve our Country as an aircraft inspector with the United States Navy in WWII.
On December 13, 1944 in San Antonio, TX he was united in marriage with the love of his life, Lois Margaret (nee: Weaseman) Hansen, who preceded him in death, exactly six years earlier, on December 16, 2004.
Arthur had been employed for many years by Modine Mfg. in the engineering dept. before Art and Lois retired to Hot Springs, Arkansas – returning back to Racine in 2004. Among his interests, Art was a charter member of the Experimental Aircraft Association, Rotary, Elks and the Iris Floral Society. He also enjoyed woodworking, building model airplanes, fishing and hunting. Above all, Art loved being in the surroundings of his entire family.
Surviving are his children, Peggy (John) Wagner of Racine and Tom (Marge) Hansen of Normal, IL; grandchildren, Jeanne (Frank) Rodriguez, Sarah (Bert) Pina; Hannah, Leah and Josiah Hansen; great-grandchildren, Eli and Abram Rodriguez; Malea and Dominick Pina; sister-in-law, Arlene Hansen; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents and wife, Art was preceded in death by his brothers, William “Bill” (Dottie) Hansen and Richard “Dick” Hansen; in-laws, Chester and Agnes (nee: Alaxson) Weaseman; and brother-in-law, Jack Weaseman.
In accordance with Art's wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held in the chapel of the S. WI Veterans Memorial Cemetery (21731 Spring St. in Union Grove) on Monday, December 20, 2010 at 11:00 am with Rev. Mary Ubuntu officiating. Entombment will follow. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Sunday from 4-6 pm.
