Surrounded by her family, Barbara ‘Barbie’ T. Hinrichs, 85, passed away at her residence on Wednesday, April 2, 2025.
Barb was born in Winger, Minnesota on January 27,1940 to the late Helbert & Inga (Willand) Hauge. On March 31,1962, she married the love of her life, Orland ‘Orlie’ G. Hinrichs who passed away on April 3, 2008.
Barb & Orlie moved from Minnesota to Sturtevant, Wisconsin where they lived and raised their four children. After many years of being a stay-at-home mom, Barb worked as a caregiver at Becker-Shoop for over 30 years.
After retirement, Barb & Orlie made many road trips to visit their families in Minnesota. They also enjoyed traveling to Kansas & North Carolina to spend time with their two older children & grandchildren. Both enjoyed their casino runs where you could find Orlie playing his favorite machines while Barb relaxed with a good romance novel. Barb loved spending time outdoors especially with friends & family. You would often find her planting flowers & working in the yard. She enjoyed watching her daily soap opera and would also make a weekly trip to the Airport Inn for her one warm beer where she would catch up with friends. Above all, however, she treasured the moments spent with her family. The world is now emptier without her spunky sass.
Her survivors include her four children, Michael (Mary) Hinrichs of Bear Creek, North Carolina, Michelle (Dale) Bohn of Shawnee, Kansas, Mark (Michelle) Hinrichs of Racine, Melissa (Eric) Kirkeby of Caledonia; Nine grandchildren, Teri (Steven) Staton, Ashley (Michael) Carlson, Brandy (Jonus) Nobles, Greg Hinrichs, Kimi (Izzy) Zayas, Benjamin Hinrichs, Malachi Pisula, Tannon Kirkeby and Erin Kirkeby; Great-grandchildren, Arabella, Declan, Axel, Everett, Myles & Baby Carlson due this Fall; Sister, Sharon Gunufson. Barb is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Loren Hauge and sisters, Doreen Porter & Lois Goering.
The family would like to thank the staff from Hospice Alliance for their compassionate care they provided to Barb during her final days. Your kindness and support were a true blessing and brought comfort to us during this difficult time.
