~~ Betty Lou Johnson, 84, passed away in the Grand Prairie Care Center, on Thursday, July 9, 2015. She was born in Racine on February 18, 1931, the daughter of the late William and Edna (nee Schrader) Gastrow.
On May 21, 1949, in Holy Communion Lutheran Church, she was united in marriage to Henry Johnson who preceded her in death on May 24, 2009. Mrs. Johnson had been employed by the U.S. Post Office from 1963 until retiring in 1977. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, in Sturtevant, and a former member of the Sturtevant Lioness Club.
Surviving are her children, Debbie (Bob) Collins, of East Troy, and John (Lynn Swanson) Johnson, of Sturtevant; five grandchildren, Tim (Katey) Collins, Steve (Amy) Collins, Kristi (Jamie) Opper, Scott (Kim) Johnson, and Dan Johnson; eight great grandchildren, and her sister-in-law, Ruth Gastrow, of Caledonia. Her nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. In addition to her beloved husband and parents, Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by two sisters, Shirley Mau and Janet Matranga; and by her brother, William Gastrow.
Her funeral service will be held in Faith Lutheran Church, 8500 Durand Ave. Sturtevant, on Tuesday, July 14th at 6:00 p.m., with Rev. Jeffrey Mortenson officiating. Visitation will be in the church on Tuesday, from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service. A private burial service will take place in Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery-Dover. The family has suggested memorials to Faith Lutheran Church.

We will always be grateful for the care-giving Betty provided for that little whipper-snapper Bill, “Butch,” during those many long years after their parents’ terrible accident. This enabled him to grow up to be the fine man Jordanna & I are proud to call husband & father.
